Playing Piano with AJ.

Our friends came over on Sunday to make us breakfast. As Colee said, I meant to do this back in October but.......life gets in the way. Breakfast burritos, yum. Their little guy, AJ, is about 14 months old. Madeline liked showing him her piano. She also enjoyed playing with her "kitchen" with him and sharing her "Foof foops", otherwise known as Froot Loops. Such a fun age :-)

Lucy's 3 months!

Lucy is 3 months old now. Time has flown by of course. I am constantly seeing photos of Madeline flash on my computer at her various monthly ages and I find myself anxiously waiting for Lucy to reach such ages. 6 months, crawling, walking, eating....etc. I'm not wishing the time to fly, but I certainly know I loved Madeline's phases and am looking forward to Lucy's. For now, we're still getting her past the crying phase. Good lord this child likes to cry. And it's not a whimper, it's a full out scream! The only upside to this crying child is that she's darn cute when she's not and she sleeps through the night...when she finally goes down anyway. So far at 3 months she holds her head on her own, prefers to be sitting up to see what's going on around her of course, starting to hold toys and shake them a bit. Loves to suck on her daddy's finger. Oh, she LOVES to eat. Won't take a pacifier- which just baffles me. Madeline didn't either. She's cooing all the time, when she's not crying of course ;-) And really loves her big sister. She watches her and follows her and smiles so big. It's pretty darn sweet to watch. Madeline has certainly taken a liking to the role of Big Sister.

New Years Eve

The days of planning weeks in advance to what party we'll attend on New Year's Eve and what sparkley outfit I will wear have passed...for now. At this point in our lives, with two babies, staying home seems like the logical choice. New Year's Eve at home- on the menu, seafood. Shrimp and King Crab. Delicious. Madeline even had her first bite of crab. For a kid that took forever to eat "real" food, she certainly isn't scared to try new things. I'm thankful for that. We're not picky eaters in this family!
Anyway, we spent the night dining, munching, dancing with the kids, and much to John's disappointment, watching the Twilight Saga movies. After the kids were in bed, John and I toasted with a glass of champagne and were in bed by 9. At midnight, Madeline woke us up...unfortunately not to say Happy New Year, but to crawl in bed with us. Okay...just this once Madeline.

Christmas Day.

Christmas Day was so wonderful. My gramma Shirley (my mom's mom) came up for the day and overnight. My cousin Lucas and his wife, Meggan, along with their daughter Sydnee, drove up. Turns out his uncle lives not too far from us so they graciously brought gramma up! It worked out great! It had been roughly 5 years since I last saw my cousin- John and I had just started to date- and he and his buddies came up for a Halloween party I was having. Where does the time go? Anyway, it was the perfect opportunity for us to meet Meggan and their daughter Syd. Madeline of course didn't waste anytime showing her her playroom. After Sydnee left, Madeline enjoyed pulling on Great Gramma's arm to have her play with her. She loves her Gammy shirley. I can't imagine how wonderful my gramma must feel being able to spend the time she does with all of her great-grandchildren.

Lucy's Baptism

Lucy's baptism was quick. 10:30 mass followed by her baptism. At this parish, baptism follows mass rather than having it during as the church is packed, not an empty spot in the place. It would take HOURS if that were the case. Madeline did great- how boring for a 2 year old to sit still for a whole hour. She was perfect! A little curious of the baptismal font, but who wouldn't be at that age?
Godparents, Paul and Jen, very dear friends of ours. Actually, Jen is also Madeline's godmother. And Paul seems to be Madeline's boyfriend as everytime he comes over, she crawls all over him and it's like we're not even in the room. Fortunately he has the patience of a saint and he's very good with her. Any of you single or have a single friend? He's looking!
Anyway, the baptism was very sweet. It was followed by a lovely brunch at home with our parents and godparents.
