Baby Shower

Today was my baby shower hosted by my dear friend Heather. We had great food, all my favorite brunch items were served, which included a fabulous egg bake, a melt-in-your-mouth french toast bake, fresh fruit, assorted muffins.....mimosa's (both with champagne and without) and of course....CAKE!
I was so happy to see all of my wonderful friends and so grateful they took the time out of their busy summers to get together!
The games we played were so much fun, not obnoxious at all. And the gifts were amazing. THANK YOU GIRLS and THANK YOU HEATHER for opening up your home and hosting a fantastic afternoon.

Quick Update....

Hello readers, I haven't had much time to sit and blog about what's been happening in the world of John and Jess....and I don't have any fun photos to share at the moment, but I will work on that in the next week and get those posted, so have faith and check back in a few days. For now, here are a few things that we've accomplished since the last post:

-About 2 weeks ago I surprised John with a trip to a doctor's office....I had scheduled an elective 4D Ultrasound for the dad-to-be...we've decided that from the photos, her eyes are TBD, she has John's nose and my mouth...thank goodness, baby girl needs some lucious lips for all the boys she'll one day kiss! John would disagree of course. Baby has 10 fingers and 10 toes and doesn't appear to have a flaw on her tiny little self. She's be a perfect combination of her momma and daddy.
-Nursery has been completed, sans a few small finishing touches of course. The furniture is placed, the shelves are hung, baby's laundry is all done and put away.
-We've attended baptism prep class and while it was stimulating, I don't know that it was necessary. But, because I'm a planner, we have it out of the way and baptism for baby is scheduled for the fall.
-John's baseball team, the Minneapolis Rocks, continues to dominate. I can think of no better group of guys, along with their wives/fiances/girlfriends to spend my summer evenings with. They really are the best!
-I have my first baby shower this weekend. Photos to follow of course. I'm pretty anxious to have all my friends together in the same room again, even if that means we have to play silly baby shower games! At least there will be food there....and CAKE! For those of you who don't know this about me; sweets have been my weakness this entire pregnancy. Cake especially. It truly is delicious. I do hope, though, that after baby is born, I will find cake repulsive.
-We're going on the 32nd week of pregnancy and I feel like a house.

Happy Day, thanks for reading and remember to check back in a few days. I promise to have lots of photos posted to share with all of you!

3 ballers

Can you see any similarities?

Happy Birthday John!

This weekend we celebrated John's 31st birthday and we had great intentions to celebrate his birthday, too! Plans consisted of the horse races at Canterbury Park one night, and dinner at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants another. Plans were quickly changed when the storms blew through town....again. Saturday was a gorgeous day though, and John's baseball team had a tournament. In between games we managed to find a cake for him, however, the woman at Cub obviously just learned how to write in cursive, in frosting no less. At least the cake tasted delicious!
And the grand finale of his birthday was a gift that he absolutely loves...and needs! A brand new grill. What man doesn't like a new grill? Happy Birthday John!

Connected

It's hard to believe that I'm already 29 weeks pregnant...and if anyone asks, "how many months are you?" I can say I'm 7 months pregnant (because technically I'm in my 8th month starting today)!

I've learned that baby is approximately 11 inches long from crown to rump and she is about 2.5 lbs, which is actually about the weight of a quart and a half of water. I have also learned that she will gain about two pounds this month!

I have started to notice her more and more strong, methodical movements. It's entertaining to say the least...I wish I could share this experience with John in the same way I have been experiencing it. I wish he could feel what I feel, right when I feel it. Just this week I finally realized how connected I've become to her and how anxious I am to meet her in person and feel her skin against mine. . She's an amazing little thing already, and I can tell she's going to be very strong, not to mention, cute.

Sunday Afternoon Picnic

Sunday afternoon was gorgeous. Nothing but sunshine and fluffy white clouds in the sky....a perfect day for a picnic with the girls, including Keira, the latest edition to the "group". Sadly I didn't see anyone passing in close enough range to get a photo of all of us...next time I hope! There's nothing I enjoy more than a date with Amber, Jen, Anne and Suzanne. Hard to believe that about 10 years ago we met and developed the friendships that we have. It's good to have your girl friends. I love you guys!
