Miss Madeline had her cast off on Friday, June 5th at approxiately 10:45am. It was an exciting moment for us, and of course for her. Daddy held her (he has a tighter grip and can tolerate such situations better than I can/could) while the lady with the saw started to remove her cast. She told us that the saw would really vibrate her leg and likely be the cause of her cries rather than her being in any sort of discomfort. Fortunately the saw was so loud that although we could see that she was screaming, we could hardly hear her! We need a noise maker like that for home. Anyway, about 5 minutes later she was cast free and her foot was revealed! Only 5 toes on that foot now! Admitedly I expected her toe to look the way it did and can't wait for the time to pass for it to heal 100%. There is a minor scar along the side of her foot which after time has passed we'll hardly notice it. We're so pleased and so happy this is behind us. In 6 months we'll visit Dr. Walker again for a follow up. Other than that....it's life as usual.

Thanks for sharing. My 15 month old daughter will be undergoing a similar surgery (on both big toes!) next month. It's helpful to read your postings and view the pictures to give us an idea of what to expect.
